Welcome to the IRETT Mentor Training! We are looking forward to introducing you to the IRETT and welcoming you to the team.

This comprehensive 10-week course equips experienced rehabilitation professionals to become IRETT mentors, helping stakeholders leverage IRETT tools to build workforce capacity in any region. Through a blend of webinars, readings, and interactive tasks, you will gain in-depth knowledge of one of the IRETT tools, mastering its application for impactful workforce development activities globally.

Course Aim

The course aims to develop a global network of skilled mentors who can effectively guide organizations in implementing IRETT tools to strengthen rehabilitation workforce capacity. Through comprehensive training in tool application, mentorship strategies, and practical implementation, you will gain the expertise needed to support stakeholders in developing sustainable rehabilitation education programs, professional regulation frameworks, and clinical skills training initiatives. By the end of this course, mentors will be equipped to facilitate the adaptation and implementation of IRETT tools across diverse contexts, contributing to the advancement of rehabilitation workforce development worldwide.

Course Outcomes

As an IRETT Mentor, you will:

  • Guide and support international organizations or individuals in implementing the IRETT tools.
  • Advise on the creation of academic programs, professionalisation and regulation, and CPD pathways.
  • Empower local teams to strengthen the rehabilitation workforce in diverse settings.

Learning Objectives

Following this course you will be able to:

  • Describe the key components and purpose of one selected IRETT tool (APRT, PRRT, or CSTT) and apply the tool to analyze real workforce development scenarios.
  • Apply evidence-based mentorship strategies to guide stakeholders through IRETT tool implementation.
  • Evaluate and adapt IRETT tools to meet local needs while maintaining their core principles and standards.
  • Design context-specific solutions that address implementation challenges and resource constraints.
  • Demonstrate effective mentorship communication and support strategies that facilitate successful tool implementation.
  • Contribute to the global IRETT mentor network through collaborative learning and knowledge exchange.

Course Format

This course is completely online. The course content will be covered over a ten week period, including one webinar each week. Participation in the webinar is expected, but if a scheduling conflict occurs, the recording will be available to review at a different time during that week.  The learning activities (tasks) can be completed at a time that suits you within the ten week time period, however the best approach is to complete the tasks for each week within the related week.

Several tasks will be assigned each week that can be completed in your own time. You are expected to complete all tasks which may include any of the following each week:

  1. Review an IRETT tool and complete the associated worksheets.
  2. Complete online courses on Physiopedia Plus.
  3. Look at additional readings, videos and resources provided.
  4. Contribute to the online discussions.

In this section below you will find links to the course content for each week. Throughout the course you will focus on one tool only and should follow the links for your selected tool through weeks 2-8. These links will be released at the beginning of each week:
